CHE 464 Microprocessors in Process Control

Provide the process engineers with the background necessary to understand and work with microprocessor-based systems. Topics include:introduction and overview of microproccessor based-based technology in chemical engineering; analog and digital signal conditioning, data transmission and serial interfacing using RS-232C and GPIB IEEE-488 standards; analog-to-digital conversion and sampling; digital-to-analog conversion; digital I/O, switches/relays, and power supplies; microprocessor-based sensors, transducers and actuators; programmable logic controllers and batch process control; software packages for data acquisition and control.
