Foundations of Writing and Critical Inquiry
All incoming freshmen and transfer students participate in the Foundations of Writing and Critical Inquiry program by enrolling in the following courses during their first and second terms: CAL 103 – Writing and Communications Colloquium and CAL 105 – Cal Colloquium: Knowledge, Nature, Culture. There is a special provision for incoming international undergraduate students that places them in CAL 101 – English Skills during their first semester, with CAL 103 and CAL 105 being taken during their second and third semesters.
