MGT 599 Critical Thinking in Business and Technology

This course addresses the widespread reliance on technology, esp. AI, which necessitates advanced critical thinking skills in business decision-making. Students will develop the ability to ask pertinent questions, identify biases, challenge assumptions, and scrutinize evidence while cultivating a healthy skepticism toward new technologies.

Given the prevalence of emerging technologies and the influence of unconscious biases, this course emphasizes perceiving information with minimal distortion. Mastering this competency enhances decision-making and fosters a deeper engagement with the world. This is crucial in an era of rapidly disseminating questionable content and the swift social acceptance of technology-amplified user-generated material.

Students will explore concepts and frameworks of critical thinking. They will engage in experiential activities and plenary discussions to practice and refine these skills. By becoming active learners and open to new ideas, students will enhance their ability to think critically in both academic and real-world contexts.
