BME 313 Biomaterials in Medical Device Design Laboratory

Materials have been used extensively in the biomedicine and healthcare for the fabrication of various medical devices, implants, sutures, dressings, and medical machinery for modern medicine. Through this hands-on laboratory experience, students will create and evaluate material-enabled product solutions that would impact our society through a semester-long open-ended lab design project. Project based learning techniques are used with actual implant samples in class and labs to demonstrate real-world applications of biomaterials. Students will design, develop and evaluate the performance of a biomaterial that is utilized for a real-world application.
