PEP 369 Introduction to Quantum Physics

This course aims to provide an introduction of fundamental quantum concepts, basic quantum systems, and typical quantum phenomena and behaviors. Connections of the concepts and ideas to applications in quantum information and quantum engineering will also be briefly discussed. Topics to be covered include early development of quantum mechanics, quantum states, quantum evolution, quantum operators, quantum measurement, simple atomic, photonic and solid-state quantum systems, quantum entanglement, macroscopic quantum phenomenon, typical schemes in quantum information and quantum computation, fundamental forces, preliminary introduction of quantum field theory.
