PEP 543 Introduction to Quantum Engineering

Quantum mechanics was discovered at the beginning of the 20 th century and has had a profound effect on the development of modern technology. This course provides an overview to the fundamentals and potentials of quantum engineering and introduces revolutionary quantum technologies. The focus will be a survey of several promising aspects of quantum information science including quantum computing and its physical implementations, quantum communication, quantum simulation, and quantum sensing. The course aims to develop a conceptual understanding of quantum phenomena, expose the students to the forefronts of emerging quantum information science, and motivate them to participate in the quest for quantum technologies.
