Theoretical foundations of spectroscopic methods and their application to the study of atomic and molecular structure and properties; theory of absorption and emission of radiation; line spectra of complex atoms; group theory; rotational, vibrational, and electronic spectroscopy of diatomic and polyatomic molecules; infrared, Raman, and uv-vis spectroscopy; laser spectroscopy and applications; photoelectron spectroscopy; and multi-photon processes.
