Accelerated Chemical Biology Program
The Combined B.S.-M.D. Program is an opportunity to earn the B.S. degree in Chemical Biology at Stevens and the M.D. degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in a total of seven years. If you are a high school senior who has demonstrated academic excellence, in the top 10% of your class, with a combined SAT score of at least 1400 and a promise for a career in medicine, you can be considered for the B.S.-M.D. program. Admission to this program is highly competitive, and an interview at both Stevens and the medical school is required. If accepted to this program, you must complete three years in the Accelerated Chemical Biology program with a GPA of at least 3.50, grades in all of the premed courses at least B (not B-) or above, and you obtain acceptable scores (normally around 514) on the MCAT exam. Normally, you would take the MCAT exam your junior year and submit to NJMS for approval. Stevens awards the B.S. degree upon successful completion of the first year of medical studies.
Note: If you are admitted to the accelerated chemical biology program, you'll take the same courses as the science majors in the first year, adding other program requirements during the following semesters at Stevens, and then enter the medical school at the beginning of your fourth year. Transfer credit for courses taken in the first year of study at the medical school are used to complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Science degree.
