HMU 201 Music Theory I
In Music Theory I, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of tonal theory: scales and keys, intervals, chords, rhythm and meter, and written notation. Special attention will be given to the metaphors we use in talking about music, and how this might affect our thinking about and understanding of musical experience. Concepts will be reinforced through performance and critical listening exercises.
