HQSS 317 Quantitative Social Science

he emerging field of quantitative social science has the potential to transform how what we know about society. Quantitative social science combines a deep level of domain knowledge with an equally rigorous knowledge and application of programming and statistics. Quantitative social science requires deep understanding of relevant social theories combined with statistical and computational skills to ensure responsible and ethical outcomes. By providing a foundational knowledge of research design, data collection and management, and introductions to quantitative approaches, students will engage and develop critical thinking and research skills necessary for quantitative social science. Through hands-on problem sets and projects, students will develop and enhance their statistical, computational, and programming skills in order to examine major societal issues.
