Qualifying Examinations
It is recommended that doctoral students take the department Qualifying Examination within one year of the start of their doctoral program. Students are allowed a 3-credit load reduction from their full-time load in order to prepare for the Qualifying Examination. Students are only allowed to take a 3-credit load reduction twice during the course of their doctoral program prior to passing the Qualifying Examination.
Students should enroll in their's department's PhD. Milestone Course on Workday in the semester that they intend on taking the Qualifying Examination.
Prior to taking the Qualifying Examination, students are allowed to enroll in a maximum of 9 dissertation credits, with permission of their advisor.
