Health Professions Advisory Committee
The Health Professions Advisory Committee/Community (HPAC) provides academic and professional guidance to Stevens students aspiring to health and medical professions beginning their first year of undergraduate studies through to application and acceptance into the desired health professions school. HPAC is comprised of selected educators from across the the Stevens Community who have expertise in the health professions and a highly motivated commitment to mentoring, counseling, and guiding qualified student aspirants from all sectors of The University. The HPAC committee helps students prepare to apply to all health profession schools including medical (MD and DO), dental school, optometry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy school, physician’s assistant, physical therapy, as well as provides advice for students interested in advancing towards careers in healthcare. The HPAC meets with groups of students on a periodic basis, conducts counseling, advising and planning sessions (CAPS) meetings with individual students as application deadlines draw near, collects letters of recommendation on behalf of applicants, and writes the Committee letter for the student’s applications. HPAC also holds seminars to discuss the application requirements and procedures, and any changes in the application process.
